Portuguese international banned from entering Spain for 8 years
Portuguese international centreback Ruben Semedo has accepted an 8-year ban from entering Spain having been charged for various serious criminal activities, according to reports.
The 26-year old, who has not yet represented his country at senior level but was included in Portugal’s most recent squad in October 2019 whilst awaiting trial for his alleged crimes in Spain, is currently on the books of Olympiakos, joining the Greek giants from Villarreal in 2019.
Semedo had been accused of several serious crimes, and was found guilty of kidnapping, assault and the possession of a firearm.
As a result, the former Sporting defender has been given a five-year suspended prison sentence and will not be allowed to enter Spain for the next 8 years, according to reports in the country.
Semedo previously spent several months in prison while in Spain after being charged for an array of offences.
Now back at his best and letting his football do the talking, Semedo has impressed during his time in Greece, helping his side storm to the Greek title, and has been attracting interest from Bundesliga outfits Schalke and Bayer Leverkusen, among others.
Semedo also spent time out on loan at Huesca and Rio Ave, impressing at the latter, before moving to Olympiakos.
