Benfica manager Jorge Jesus aims to keep hold of Carlos Vinicius and Ruben Dias
Jorge Jesus is desperate to keep hold of the club’s two most in-demand players as he looks to rebuild the squad for next season.
Ruben Dias and Carlos Vinicius are Benfica’s two most lucrative assets, Portuguese centreback Dias currrently boasting a 100 million euro release clause and having previously attracted significant interest from the Manchester clubs and Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Vinicius, who also has a 100 million euro buy-out clause and has also been linked with a big-money move to Wolves, as well as Liverpool and PSG.
But while interest in the duo is sky-high, Benfica do not intend to sell them in the upcoming window, with newly-appointed Jesus seeing them as crucial in his plans for the upcoming campaign.
Should a fee meeting their release clause come in, Benfica will obviously have no choice but to say goodbye to one of their most important players, but that Jorge Jesus is so keen to keep hold of them makes it far more likely that any offer that doesn’t match the release clause will instantly be rejected.
