Eighth player unilaterally rescinds contract with Aves
Goalkeeper Raphael Aflalo has become the eighth senior Aves player to terminate his contract with the club due to lack of wage payments over the last 3 months.
Aflalo, 24, played each of Aves’ last 3 matches, but will not feature for the club again after following in the footsteps of 7 other players by leaving the club prematurely.
Quentin Beunardeau was one of the first players to end their association with the club early, as was Welinton Junior.
After that, defender Yamga and midfielders Pedro Delgado and Tshibola terminated their contracts, while Estrela and Jonathan Buatu, who was on loan at the club, quickly followed, also citing overdue wages.
Star striker Mohammadi has then been absent from training and missed his required Covid-19 test, and is another that could well rescind his association with the club, which would be a big blow for Aves, with Mohammadi the biggest asset they have on their books.
Claudio Falcao is another who is expected to terminate his contract with the club in the near future.
Aves find themselves in severe financial difficulties, and their match against Portimonense on the last day of the season is in serious doubt. Their training session in the build-up to the Benfica match was even cancelled due to insurance difficulties.
