Sporting complete double signing
Former Getafe left back Vitorino Antunes has joined Sporting CP on a free transfer, returning to play club football in Portugal for the first time since 2013, alongside Manchester City right back Pedro Porro.
Antunes has signed a two-year deal with the Lisbon club, keeping him at the club until 2022.
The 33-year old, who has only ever played for Pacos de Ferreira, Leixoes and Freamunde in Portugal, has spent the majority of his career overseas.
He has represented several clubs in several countries, having passed through Italy, Greece, Ukraine and Spain before returning to the country of his birth.
Despite his lack of representation for one of the big clubs in Portugal, Antunes’ showings abroad have earned him 13 caps for the senior national team, with his best spells coming at Malaga, Dynamo Kiev and, most recently, Getafe.
Antunes won the Ukrainian Premier League twice with Dynamo Kiev, in 2015 and 2016, and did the double in the former, also winning the Ukrainian Cup in the 2014-15 season.
Meanwhile, Porro, who is just 20 years of age, joins Sporting on a two-year loan deal, the Spanish U21 international having played 13 La Liga games last season while on loan at Real Valladolid.
