Rafael Camacho is still on the books of Liverpool, but the winger is still open to a move away this window.
Camacho, 19, is particularly unhappy with his lack of senior game time with the Champions League holders, the former Portugal U19 international having only featured for the Liverpool senior team twice in his career - a one minute cameo appearance for Crystal Palace in the Premier League and 90-minute showing in a 2-1 loss to Wolves in the FA Cup.
That said, while he has failed to break into the senior team, he has performed to an excellent standard in the Liverpool youth side, where he scored 8 goals and assisted 5 in just 14 appearances in the Premier League 2.
One side actively pursuing the teenage winger is Sporting CP, whose youth academy he came through before moving to Manchester City at the age of 14.
It is believed Liverpool are holding out for £10million for the youngster, but Sporting are increasingly hopeful that they can get the deal done for less.
English Premier League outfit Wolves are another club that are believed to be pursuing the youngster.
And the footballer’s agent Euclides Camacho, who is also his father, has been talking about his son’s future.
Speaking to A Bola, Euclides said: “What the future holds for Rafael is not yet decided. We are working to resolve this and believe that soon we will have news.”
He continued: “When? I think that by the end of this month, the beginning of July, things should be resolved. It does not just depend on us, it also depends on the club, because he is still linked to Liverpool.”
The 40-year old agent also gave some indication as to whether his son may return to Portugal: “It is often said that a good child returns home, and Rafael does not escape that rule. He likes Portugal, has friends here who he grew up with, and part of his family…”
“The sentimental connection can, of course, carry weight. It is well known that Rafael spent 8 years at Sporting. He arrived aged 7, and left at 14.”
“It was a long time, he made many friends, people both know and like him. It is natural that there is an emotional connection to Sporting that is unlike any other club in Portugal.”
When quizzed on whether he had already been approached by both of the Lisbon clubs, Euclides did not mince his words. “Yes, we have already had some approaches for Sporting and Benfica.”
