Real Madrid tabled an offer of €130million for Benfica star teenager João Felix.
Real Madrid made a final attempt to sign the 19-year old Portugal international and tempt him away from Atletico Madrid.
Spanish paper Marca have advanced with the news, reporting that Real not only met the release clause, but exceeded it by 10M€.
However, that offer was not to the satisfaction of Benfica, as while it sounds like the better proposal, it was actually broken down depending on the fulfillment of objectives.
Indeed, the offer was of 80M€ upfront, while the additional 50M€ was dependent upon certain accomplishments being achieved during Felix's contract with the club.
Felix, as we've known for some time now, is going to sign for Atletico Madrid, with negotiations closed and contract agreed.
The deal will be made official as soon as Benfica receive their €120million, which could be within the next couple of days.
