Sporting CP interested in Reading centreback Tiago Ilori
Sporting are considering making an approach for the Portuguese centreback.
Ilori, now 25, was at Sporting as a youngster, joining in 2006 when just 13 years of age, starting out as a striker before reverting to his centreback position.
He went on to make 12 Primeira Liga appearances for the Lisbon club before earning an illustrious move to English Premier League side Liverpool.
That high-profile transfer did not go to plan though, and he only played 3 times for the club, sent out on loan to the likes of Bordeaux, Granada and Aston Villa in the process before moving to Reading on a permanent deal.
Now managed by compatriot Jose Gomes, Ilori has played 17 league games so far this season for the Championship strugglers, who currently sit in the relegation zone of the English second tier, 5 points away from safety.
And according to Record, Jose Gomes has confirmed that Sporting are one of several sides considering bringing in the centreback, stating that Ilori is keen to play at a higher level and, one day, the national team.
