Deadline Day: Carlos Carvalhal's Rio Ave recruit Chelsea winger
Rio Ave have completed the signing of Brazilian winger Lucas Piazon on a two-year loan deal from Chelsea.
Piazon, who joined Chelsea as a 17 year old back in 2011, has spent virtually his entire career out on loan, having spent time in 5 countries over the last 6 years.
Having first been loaned out to Malaga in 2013, he went on to join Vitesse, Eintracht Frankfurt, Reading and Fulham before his most recent stint in Italy with Chievo.
The now-25 year old, who represented Brazil U23s 5 times during the Pan American games in 2015, has long been considered a star of the future, though is yet to hit the heights expected of him.
In total, he has played just 3 games for Chelsea, two of those coming in the English League Cup back in 2012, while he also made a 16 minute cameo in the English Premier League in the same season.
Since then, he has only ever represented the Chelsea reserve team or spent time out on loan.
Last season, he spent the second half of the campaign at Serie A outfit Chievo, but ultimately spent the vast majority of his time in Italy on the bench, playing in just 4 matches overall for a side that finished bottom of the league with just 17 points across the 38 game season.
