Zivkovic seen as potential substitute for Daniel Podence
Benfica have been keen to find a solution for Andrija Zivkovic, who has played just 61 minutes of football for the Lisbon club this season.
Having failed to even make it onto the bench for any of Benfica’s Primeira Liga and Champions League fixtures this season, Benfica have been actively looking for a new club for the Serbian winger, with the 23-year old clearly not in manager Bruno Lage’s plans.
Zivkovic was previously highly regarded by Benfica fans, and was relatively extensively used under previous manager Rui Vitoria, but a change in manager and a preference for other players has put him out of contention.
And now, Benfica are opent to the prospect of Zivkovic being loaned out to Olyampiakos for the remainder of the season, according to O Jogo.
This hypothesis is strengthened by the fact that Olympiakos will be keen on recruiting a replacement for Daniel Podence, who is going to be joining Wolverhampton Wanderers for a record fee for a Greek club imminently.
In search of a player to fill the void left behind by the departure of the diminutive winger, O Jogo suggest that Zivkovic is one of the possible alternatives for the Greek club, something Benfica would certainly consider.
