Two Portuguese make the top 10 best goals of the 2019-20 Europa League campaign
Three of the top 10 goals of the 2019-20 Europa League season were scored by either Portuguese internationals, or Portuguese-based players - with one even voted the second best of them all.
Braga’s Galeno scored what was judged to be the 9th best goal of the entire Europa League campaign, which was voted for by a group of UEFA technical observers, due to his impeccable curling effort against Slovan Bratislava in the group stage.
Manuel Fernandes’ strike for Krasnodar was then voted as the 8th best goal of the European club competition, his flick into the back of the net against Trabzonspor deemed to better Galeno’s effort.
But of all the players associated with Portuguese football, Ruben Neves scored what was judged to have been the best, coming in 2nd on the list for his epic volley from the edge of the box against Espanyol in the round of 32.
Neves was only beaten by Claudiu Keseru of Ludogorets, with his accurate and controlled volley from range deemed to pip Neves to first in the rankings.
